To unlock a phone by any other manufacturer than iPhone, the phone is unlocked using an unlock code. There are 2 types of unlock codes. - Network Unlock - Manufacturer Unlock Network unlock is a code that is used to unlock your phone from the carrier that your phone may be locked to. For example of you are attempting to unlock your Nokia Lumia 1020 on AT&T network, then the network unlock code is simply unlocking your device from AT&T network. Manufacturer Unlock is a code that every phone manufacturer puts in for each device that they produce the device. This code is usually not given our to customers if their phone is under contract because they ask customers to receive this code from their network carrier. When you order an SIM unlock code from us, you may receive the Manufacturer unlock code but will work pretty much the same way as Network unlock code. Our system finds the easiest, fastest and cheapest method to unlock your device. We calculate this code based on algorithm that network carriers and phone manufacturers use to lock the device.

How unlocking an iPhone  works?

iPhone unlocking works much differently than other phone manufacturers.  iPhone keeps record of all IMEI in the iTunes database.  It also keeps a record of which network your phone is locked to. To unlock an iPhone,  the entry for your iPhone's IMEI needs to be updated in the iTunes database on Apples server to reflect this change.

Which network carriers are easy to unlock with?

Each network have their own restrictions on how complicated they make the process of unlocking. AT&T is notorious for not allowing customers to unlock their phone if you call their customer service directly. In most cases, you will need to purchase after market phone unlocking service to get this done. However, AT&T is one of the relatively cheaper to unlock compare to Verizon or T-Mobile devices. Unlocking an iPhone on AT&T network may cost you about $50 but this unlock on Verizon and TMobile will cost your above $100. If your phone is blocked or blacklisted, then the cost and time to unlock will go up for this service. In some cases it may not be possible. Some of the easiest and cost effective networks to unlock your mobile device are Australian and South American networks.  And this is regardless of the phone you are trying to unlock.
